Course Description: (magenta line) A new race venue for the Utah League, the High Star Ranch course features smooth switchback climbs, plenty of double track for passing and a fun flow trail descent. Staging and start takes place at the main entrance to the DeJornia Center (green line). The start begins with a fast flat section of road that immediately hits a steep and short road climb. Racers then turn left (North), joining the course on a canal road for almost a mile, allowing time for separation before entering singletrack. Racers turn left, crossing over a bridge, to where the singletrack fun begins on a singletrack climbing trail called “HSR Mid Climb”. Several sweeping switchbacks lead riders up the the mountain. There is a slight traverse to the South once at top of the climb before heading downhill on the “HRS Climb” trail, a fun descent with some tight corners. From here, the riders will hit a double track traverse that meets up with a steep and loose leg-burner of a road climb. We saved the best for last as riders are rewarded at the end of the climb with a fun flow trail called “HR South Flow” that features smooth rollers and berms. At the bottom, riders take a short trail that leads to a dirt road sprint back to the finish.
Half-Lap: (straight at purple line) 3.4 miles with 377 elevation gain.
Course will be marked for pre-riding Friday, October 6th. Pre-riding will be open from October 6th through October 13th.
GATED BRIDGES: If pre-riding before October 6th, the north and south bridges are gated and locked – do not climb over these gates or fence. You must enter and exit the course through the main trail entrance. See photo on right.
SKILLS TIPS: There are several non-bermed downhill switchbacks that have rock obstacles in them on the “HRS Climb” Trail. Please don’t slam on brakes and skid into these switchbacks and create a brake divit.
